Emergency First Aid at Work and Paediatric Emergency First Aid (Level 3)
The Combined Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA) and Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course covers a range of essential CPR and first aid skills for adults and children. It equips employers and their staff with the knowledge and abilities to minimise risks and hazards in the workplace.
Description
The RLSS UK Qualifications Level 3 Combined Emergency Paediatric First Aid and Emergency First Aid at Work course covers a range of CPR and emergency first aid skills, empowering the first aider to address various injuries and illnesses in adults and children.
This one day course combines the following individual courses:
- Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA)
- Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
The Combined EPFA and EFAW course offers both qualifications to be taken together within 7 hours and can be delivered over one day or split into smaller sessions which can be delivered over 4 weeks.
The two qualifications are Ofqual, CCEA and Qualification Wales accredited and valid for three years from the date of assessment. It is suitable for anyone who has contact or works with adults, children and/or infants (babies).
The Combined EPFA and EFAW course comprises of practical work and theoretical classroom work, as well as practical and multiple-choice theory assessment of CPR and first aid.
Prerequisites
Candidates must be a minimum of 16-years-old at the time of taking the Combined Emergency Paediatric First Aid and Emergency First Aid at Work assessment, and no prior first aid knowledge is required.
Course Assessment
The competence of each learner is continually assessed by the trainer throughout the course and recorded via a practical assessment record.
Candidates will also be required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the topics covered by undertaking a multiple-choice theory question paper/s.
Requalification
This course is valid for 3 years upon date of completion, candidates will need to complete a new course before this date to re-qualify.

3.1 | Identify when to administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) |
3.2 | Demonstrate CPR using: - an infant manikin - a child manikin - an adult manikin |
3.3 | Identfy when to place a casualty into the recovery posifon |
3.4 | Demonstrate how to place a casualty into the recovery position |
3.5 | Demonstrate continual monitoring of breathing whilst the casualty is in the recovery position |
3.6 | Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty who is experiencing a seizzure |
4.1 | Identify when a casualty is choking |
4.2 | Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty who is choking |
5.1 | Identify whether external bleeding is life-threatening |
5.2 | Demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty with external bleeding |
6.1 | Recognise a casualty who is suffering from shock |
6.2 | Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock |
