Anaphylaxis (Level 2)

The Anaphylaxis Management course teaches candidates how to recognise a casualty with anaphylaxis and provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty. This 4-hour Anaphylaxis Management training is available as a standalone course or can be added to one of our other first aid qualifications. After completing an RLSS UK Anaphylaxis Management course, candidates receive a Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis.

Description

The RLSS UK Anaphylaxis Management course teaches candidates how to recognise a casualty in anaphylactic shock and to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty. 

The Anaphylaxis Management training can be completed in 4 hours and is designed to be delivered in one-day. It can be taken as a standalone course or can be added to one of RLSS UK’s other first aid qualifications. 

The Anaphylaxis Management course comprises practical work and theoretical classroom work, including practical assessment on CPR and the management of Anaphylaxis. After completing an RLSS Anaphylaxis Management course, candidates receive a Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis. 

The Anaphylaxis Management qualification is OfqualCCEA and Qualification Wales accredited and valid for two years after the assessment date.

Prerequisites

Candidates must be a minimum of 16-years-old at the time of taking the Anaphylaxis Management course, and no prior first aid knowledge is required. 

Course Assessment

The course syllabus and practical skills are continually assessed by the course trainer. The assessment will include verbal question and answer sessions and practical demonstrations of CPR and First Aid.

Requalification

This course is valid for 2 years upon date of completion, candidates will need to complete a new course before this date to re-qualify.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, candidates will be able to:

1.1 conduct a scene survey
1.2 conduct a primary survey of a casualty
1.3 summon appropriate assistance when necessary
2.1 identify when to administer Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
2.2 demonstrate CPR on a manikin
2.3 demonstrate how to place a casualty into the recovery postion
3.1 identify the common triggers of Anaphylaxis
3.2 list the signs and symptoms of Anaphylaxis
3.3 demonstrate the basic treatment of Anaphylaxis
4.1 demonstrate how to administer an auto injector, following the instructions on the unit
4.2 identify how to dispose sharps safely

The Automated External Defibrillator course is four hours and is designed to be delivered in one day. The RLSS UK Qualifications Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (PFA) qualification covers a wide range of CPR and first aid skills, equipping the first aider to administer first aid to children and infants (babies). The two-day Paediatric First Aid qualification is Ofqual, CCEA and Qualification Wales accredited and valid for three years after the date of assessment. It is suitable for anyone who has contact or works with children and infants (babies).
